Emma Quinn

Emma is a person-centred counsellor that works with adults

I am person centred counsellor that can offer support with common life issues and stresses. I am also an experienced bereavement counsellor; I have been volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Support since 2021.

Person centred counselling works on the premiss that we all know what we want and need from life. However, our experiences and relationships cause blocks in us being able to connect to and work towards that version of ourselves. This may be from coping mechanisms we’ve developed, societal pressures or the expectations of those around us that we internalise. All of these can start to change our behaviour and mould us into a version of ourselves that we don’t necessarily connect to, identify with, or want to be. This can lead to feelings of confusion, internal conflict, feeling disconnected from yourself, feeling lost or stuck.

As a person-centred counsellor, I will facilitate you in identifying those blocks and obstructions and support you in in finding and re-connecting with yourself. Along the way this should start to empower you, enabling you to do what feels right and authentic for you, and to rely on yourself.

I strive to provide a space that feels free of judgement; a space where you can truly be and express yourself without fear of repercussion. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship aids the counselling process. Although the over-arching approach and theory will be the same, I endeavour to build a unique relationship with each of my clients, finding a way of working that feels comfortable and right for us both.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This will give you a chance to ask any questions you may have, and I can find out a bit about you and what’s brought you to counselling. You can decide if you feel I am a good fit for you, and we can decide on how to move forward.
