Justine Aspey

Justine is a UKCP registered systemic psychotherapist and family therapist working with children, young people, families, couples and adults

I work with children, young people, families, couples and individual adults. My style is curious, grounded and straightforward: I don’t arrive with a formula, and I won’t sit silently while you do all the work. Together we look at how each person’s difficulties connect to their relationships, culture and experiences, so that change makes sense in the context of real life.

Many of the ways we respond to stress, conflict and closeness are learned long before we notice them. They are shaped by early family life and the attachments we form as children, and are often passed down through three generations. Understanding those patterns can make it easier to choose something different.

Before training as a therapist, I built a career in the corporate world, and I offer executives and senior professionals a confidential space to work through stress, burnout and the sense of running on empty, and to look at how work pressures spill into home and family life.

Whether I am working with a family, a couple or an individual, the aim is the same: to strengthen communication, identify strengths and find a way through periods of stress or breakdown, and develop new ways of understanding and supporting one another, in a space that is safe, reflective and focused on lasting change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Tavistock and Portman trained Systemic Psychotherapist and Family Therapist, registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFSP). I hold an MA in Systemic Psychotherapy.

I have clinical experience in the NHS (Tier 3 CAMHS) as well as in school and community settings, supporting children, young people and their families with behavioural and emotional difficulties. I have experience in working with mixed heritage families, and I pay close attention to the complex identities and systemic influences that shape these experiences.

I practise in accordance with the UKCP and AFSP codes of ethics and professional practice.
